There are three themes in my 2025 photography:
1. Astrophotography: I captured the March 14 lunar eclipse, including a serendipitous shot of the International Space Station passing in front of the moon during the eclipse.
2. Flower macrophotography. I’ve included two examples of blooms in July’s visit to the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois.
3. Landscape photography in California, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and my new home in northern Illinois.
I am seeking to better define my vision for my landscape photography by adopting a style similar to 19th century American landscape painters such as Thomas Cole and Albert Bierstadt. This vision includes (1) using light and tone to guide the viewer around the image without them really noticing and (2) a softer, more etherial look to the overall image.
