In June 2003, Geoff and I drove the Alaska Highway from “Mile Zero” in Dawson Creek, BC —itself an 805 mile drive from Seattle. Some 1390 miles later we ended up in Fairbanks where Geoff’s wife, Roxanne, was doing research on her PhD dissertation that summer at the University of Alaska.
Susan and I flew to Alaska in July 2003, and spent time with Geoff and Roxanne in Fairbanks, took the train through Denali to Anchorage. Unfortunately, the Denali visit was cut short due to unseasonable rain. From Anchorage, we drove down to Seward and visited an actual alpine glacier at Kenai Fjords National Park.
