We each have different ways of grieving Ward. For me, it’s photos—some old and some new. I’ve spent the past few days rummaging through my digital files to compile a chronological sequence of memories featuring Ward ranging from 1953 to 2025. There are a couple of portraits of Ward, but the majority of images include other family members. As we were growing up, Ward and I were inevitably photographed together and after June 1954, Susie joined the photographic party! (And in several of the early images you can see evidence of Mom’s annoying habit of dressing Ward and me alike!)
Obviously, there are many photos of Ward made throughout his lifetime, but I hope you enjoy the sampling in this gallery. Many of you may not have seen the shots I made when Ward and I drove to Colorado in 2021 and our trip to Wisconsin and Minnesota in 2022.
Ward was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. This page is a way for me to remember the brother I loved.
The photographic memories of Ward are presented in two galleries below:
• 1947 to Summer 1957 (which is when we moved back to northern California)
• Fall 1957 to 2025
Special thanks to my sister, Sue, for the original scans from the photo albums curated by our Mom.
Technical note: I have restored the older images using tools (including AI) in Photoshop and Topaz Studio. If anyone would like a print of any image, just email me the filename and the size of print (up to 8×10) you’d like to craigpynn@gmail.com
