A year or so ago, my sister and her family moved from her longtime home in the San Francisco Bay Area to the seaside town of Florence, Oregon. Her dream has always to live in the country away from the noise and tension of suburbia—and she has fulfilled that dream.
She chose her location well because her home is tantalizingly close to the gorgeous Oregon coast where mountains dive down to the sea and new vistas await around every turn of serpentine US 101.
In April I traveled to Florence to visit her and enjoy three spectacular days of photography. In addition to capturing how the mountains meet the sea, I experimented with long-exposure photography—examples of which are in the gallery below.
The Oregon Coast between Florence and Newport
I spent several hours across all three days in and around Heceta Head and its beach and eponymous lighthouse.
