Moon, Planets, and Stars
Milky Way above the pines, October 12, 2015.

During 2015 I have tried my hand at astrophotography, and all the shots here are shown in chronological order. There have been two lunar eclipses, one in April, another in September. I’ve also tried to capture the full moonrise during several months. Even more spectacular, IMO, is the Milky Way, which requires getting away from the light pollution which covers most of California. The final sequence of images were made at 6000 feel up in the Sierra at (or near) Pinecrest, California.

The equipment I use for the majority of the moon images is a Nikon D3 with a Nikkor 28-300mm lens. The Milky Way shots were made with a Nikon D800 using a 14mm Rokinon lens.
