A Lunar Eclipse — May 26, 2021

I got up early (3:45 a.m.) on May 26, 2021 to witness the “Super Blood Moon” eclipse. May’s full moon is called the “Flower Moon.” This is the only lunar eclipse visible in North America in 2021.  I count myself supremely lucky in terms of weather as this Wednesday morning was the only clear morning of the entire week. Here in Madison, it was only a particle eclipse was visible. About 2/3 of the moon was in the earth’s shadow as it set at 5:25 a.m. The “blood moon” is caused by the earth’s penumbra and dust in the atmosphere.
